この度、#4 ライアン・ケリー 選手がりそなグループ B.LEAGUE 2025-26シーズンをもって現役を引退することになりましたので、お知らせいたします。
NBAで培った世界最高峰の経験を、惜しみなく体現し、その一つひとつのプレーで福井を、そして、多くのブースターを魅了してくれました。
勝負どころでチームを鼓舞するプレー、得点だけにとどまらない卓越したボールタッチ、身体を張ったリバウンド。
その経験、知識、姿勢は、クラブに残る大きな財産であり、B2リーグ昇格を果たしたばかりのクラブにとって、その存在の大きさは計り知れないものでした。
もたらしてくれた価値は、福井ブローウィンズだけにとどまりません。
心からの尊敬と、尽きることのない感謝を。このクラブに、日本のバスケットボール界に、かけがえのない足跡を残してくれたことに、深く感謝申し上げます。

今シーズンを最後に、私はバスケットボールから引退し、家族とともに人生の新たな章を歩み始めます。幼い頃から愛してきたバスケットボールに、この13年間打ち込めたことは、私にとってこの上ない光栄であり、神からの贈り物でした。ロッカールームでのチームメイトとの数多くの会話、私を指導し、励ましてくれたすべてのコーチ、毎日私のケアをしてくれたトレーナー、そしてもちろん、浮き沈みのすべてを通して私を応援してくれたファンの皆さんが、とても恋しくなるでしょう。私の選手生活の一部となってくれた皆さん一人ひとりに感謝します。バスケットボールは、私が想像していた以上のものを与えてくれました。世界中を旅する機会をくれ、生涯続く絆を築かせてくれ、そしてコートを超えた多くの教訓——規律、忍耐力、謙虚さ、そして自分よりも大きな何かの一部であることの真の意味——を教えてくれました。
何よりもまず、妻のリンジーと、3人の子どもたち、ナイル、テス、ルースに感謝したいと思います。皆の愛と支えは、どんな浮き沈みの中でも私の支えとなってくれました。皆が犠牲を払い、この道のりを一歩一歩共に歩んでくれたことに感謝します。私が成し遂げてきたことはすべて、皆のためでした。
8年前に初めて日本に来た時、私はこの国でのバスケットボールの発展の一翼を担いたいと願っていました。今や、この国はバスケットボールを「愛している」と言っても過言ではありません。ここで温かく迎えられ、コミュニティに受け入れられたことは、言葉では言い表せないほど私にとって大きな意味を持ちました。毎週末、アリーナを埋め尽くす素晴らしいファンの前で、福井でキャリアを終えることができたことは、真の恵みであり、決して忘れることのない喜びです。
現役を退くにあたり、深い感謝の念を抱いています。私のキリスト教の信仰は、コートの上でも外でも、すべてのシーズンを通じて私を導いてくれました。神様が日本での私たちの時間を形作ってくださったことに感謝しています。その同じ信頼と興奮、そして希望を持って、次の章を楽しみにしています。
私の家族を温かく迎え入れ、この美しい国を我が家のように感じさせてくださった皆様に、心から感謝申し上げます。
しかし…まだ終わっていません！ シーズンを力強く締めくくるために、一緒に戦いましょう！
After this season, I will be retiring from the game of basketball to start a new phase of life with my family. What a privilege and gift from God it has been these past 13 years to do something I have loved since I was a young boy—play basketball. I will miss the many talks with my teammates in the locker room, all the coaches who taught and pushed me, the trainers who took care of me every day, and of course, the fans who cheered me on through all the ups and downs. I thank each and every one of you for being a part of my playing journey.
Basketball has given me more than I ever could have imagined. It has taken me around the world, allowed me to build lifelong relationships, and taught me lessons that go far beyond the court—discipline, resilience, humility, and what it truly means to be part of something bigger than yourself.
Most importantly, I would like to thank my wife Lindsay and my three children, Nile, Tess, and Ruth. Your love and support have been my foundation through every high and low. Thank you for the sacrifices you’ve made and for walking this journey with me every step of the way. Everything I’ve done has been for you.
When I first came to Japan 8 years ago, I hoped to be a part of the growth of the game of basketball in this country. It is safe to say that this country LOVES basketball now. Being welcomed here and embraced by the community has meant more to me than words can express. Ending my career in Fukui, in front of unbelievable fans filling up the arena every weekend, has been a true blessing and a joy I will never forget.
As I step away from playing I do so with deep gratitude. My Christian faith has guided me through every season on and off the court and I am thankful for how God has shaped our time in Japan. I look forward to our next chapter with that same trust, excitement, and hope.
Thank you for welcoming my family so warmly and making this beautiful nation feel like home.
BUT…we are absolutely not done yet! Let’s fight together to finish the season strong!

ライアン、13年間のプロキャリアお疲れ様でした。アメリカではもちろん、あなたが日本のバスケットボール界に残したレガシーは偉大なものです。この2年間、福井のリーダーとして戦ってくれてありがとう。長く輝かしいキャリアのファイナルに福井を選んでくれてありがとう。まさにあなたは福井を「Light Up」してきた大きな大きな存在だと思います。GMとしての心境は複雑ですが、あなたとあなたの家族がハッピーに引退を迎えられることを嬉しく思います。あなたがこのタイミングで引退を選択したことがライアン・ケリーを象徴していると思います。ここぞと言う時に決め切ってくれる姿、優しくも強くチームを引っ張る姿は、この先もブローウィンズにとっては欠かせないものではありますが、自分が良い状態で身を引こうと思うと話してくれた時、それがライアンだよなと思いました。今シーズンは骨折もあり、悩むことも多かったと思います。その姿を態度に出すこともなく、チームを率先して支える姿は多くの選手にたくさんの良い影響を与えてくれました。その証拠に、たくさんの選手が、来季ライアンはどうなるんですか、オンオフコート絶対に必要な存在なんです、と言ってきたこと。今となっては引き留めることはできませんが、チームにとっていかに大きな存在かをいつも感じていました。あなたがブローウィンズで築いてくれたすべてが、必ずここからのブローウィンズの未来に繋がっていくことでしょう。
ライアンのファミリーにも感謝しています。慣れない土地での生活は大変だったはずなのに、いつも笑顔を忘れずにファミリー全員でライアンを支え続けてくれたこと、慣れない他の選手をファミリーみんなで率先して支えてくれたこと、簡単なことではないはずです。これからはもっともっとファミリーの時間を大切にしてください。また笑顔で会えることを楽しみにしてます。

Ryan, thank you for your 13 years of professional service. Your legacy in the Japanese basketball world—not to mention in the U.S.—is truly remarkable. Thank you for leading the Fukui team over the past two years. Thank you for choosing Fukui as the finale of your long and illustrious career. You have truly been a towering presence who has “Lighted Up” Fukui.
As GM, my feelings are mixed, but I’m happy that you and your family can have a happy retirement. I think your decision to retire at this moment is symbolic of Ryan Kelly. Your ability to make decisive calls when it counts, and your gentle yet strong leadership of the team, will remain indispensable to the Blowins in the future. But when you told me you wanted to step down while you were still in good shape, I thought, “That’s Ryan.” This season, with the fracture and all, I’m sure you faced many struggles. Yet you never let it show in your demeanor; instead, you took the lead in supporting the team, which had a profoundly positive impact on many players. Proof of this is that so many players have asked, “What will happen to Ryan next season? He’s absolutely essential, both on and off the court.” While I can’t stop you from leaving now, I’ve always felt just how significant a presence you are for the team. Everything you’ve built here with the Blowins will undoubtedly shape the team’s future from this point forward.
I’d also like to thank Ryan’s family. Living in an unfamiliar place must have been difficult, yet you never forgot to smile and continued to support Ryan as a family. You also took the initiative to support other players who were new to the team—something that certainly wasn’t easy. From now on, please cherish your family time even more. I look forward to seeing you all smiling again.
To all the fans of the Blowins family. Ryan’s retirement announcement is shocking, and I’m sure it makes you very sad. But I promise we will firmly build on what he has left behind to ensure the Blowins’ continued growth. As Ryan and the family always said, the fans in Fukui are among the most passionate he’s ever encountered in his career, and the players who get to compete here are truly fortunate. Let’s take pride in those words and work together to build a wonderful team that will make him feel glad he chose to retire with us. The most important matches of the season—the playoffs—are still ahead of us. Please etch the sight of Ryan’s final heroic performance into your memories.
